JDM Sunn Haze | Hybrid Ge/Si Fuzz - All vintage components, Point-to-point

$249.00

Introducing a unique fuzz - the JDM Sunn Haze - a three transistor fuzz that recreates the San Francisco Psych sound. A tip of the hat to the “Sunn Buzz”, we’ve used all new old stock components to faithfully capture the grit and sizzle of the late 60’s San Francisco Acid sound. We’re going for a “Big Brother and the Holding Company” fuzz freakout… a reedy, sizzling tone, pushing out of the speakers and crying for love!

Our recipe is a raunchy trip cooked up in a strange hillside lab… One germanium into a pair of silicon transistors, pushing through skanky ceramic caps and carbon comp resistors. Hand wired point-to-point on tagboard, with a pair of switches to fine tune the response - Hi/Lo gain and a low end bump. The SF Acid fuzz sound was, to our ears, a no-holds barred freakout, and we want to have enough gain on tap for you to take it that far or further, if you like. The tone is not about low end “chug” here, it needs to swirl precariously above the juicy love of the band. Finger wiggles, string noise and artifacts of the fuzz itself must be right up front! We did add a low end extender switch (on the left side) in case you want a bit more lows, but it don’t djent! This is a psych fuzz machine.

Specs:

Top jacks, controls are Buzz (gain) Acid (bias) and Loud (Volume). Powered via 9v block battery or standard +9vDC power supply, power consumption under 5mA.
